Pataki Proposes Tough Measure to Crack Down on Domestic Violence
Gov. George E. Pataki pressed ahead today with his effort to stiffen New York's laws against domestic violence, proposing lifetime orders of protection, tougher bail requirements for accused batterers and increased penalties for several offenses. Hoods that cause $30,000 damage to home caught
Four juveniles, who are believed to be responsible for breaking into at least three Midway Township homes including a School Board member’s residence, and causing $30,000 damage to another, have been caught. One of the alleged hoods was arraigned in juvenile court Tuesday morning. The three 14-year olds and a 15-year old were apprehended and taken into custody after members of three law enforcement agencies tracked them several hundred yards through the woods. Family law reforms unveiled
Plans to reform divorce and family law in Scotland have been presented to parliament by the Justice Minister Jim Wallace. They include shortening the waiting time for divorce, automatic new rights and responsibilities for registered unmarried fathers and strengthened powers against domestic abuse.
