MUMBAI: Banks can now rely on a guardianship certificate for disabled people, issued by either the district court under the Mental Health Act, or by local level committees set up under the same Act, for opening and operating bank accounts. The Reserve Bank of India has announced that the legal guardianship certificate for opening and operating bank accounts will be required for people with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities. A senior figure in Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood organisation has argued against non-Muslims holding leadership positions in Egypt, including the presidency.
